The Wire Plot Summary

Set in Baltimore, this show centers around the city's inner-city drug scene. It starts as mid-level drug dealer, D'Angelo Barksdale beats a murder rap. After a conversation with a judge, Det. James McNulty has been assigned to lead a joint homicide and narcotics team, in order to bring down drug kingpin Avon Barksdale. Avon Barksdale, accompanied by his right-hand man Stringer Bell, enforcer Wee-Bey and many lieutenants (including his own nephew, D'Angelo Barksdale), has to deal with law enforcement, informants in his own camp, and competition with a local rival, Omar, who's been robbing Barksdale's dealers and reselling the drugs. The supervisor of the investigation, Lt. Cedric Daniels, has to deal with his own problems, such as a corrupt bureaucracy, some of his detectives beating suspects, hard-headed but determined Det. McNulty, and a blackmailing deputy. The show depicts the lives of every part of the drug "food chain", from junkies to dealers, and from cops to politicians...

The wire 4th Season

"This is a great series and a must see if you like that in your face drama. I grew up in this area in Baltimore in the 60's & late 70's and things were almost like the series except without all the gun play. Some people I talk to says they do not like the series because it puts Baltimore in a bad light...I do not agree because a lot of them have never been to Baltimore to understand how it is to live in the inner-city and survive. I can't wait till season 5 (The Final Season) then my set will be complete."

"So I finally bit the bullet and bought the entire DVD series- and it was on sale!! I've been wanting to buy it since the series sadly ended but the cash was needed in other areas- now that it was on sale, got my tax return- the WIRE was needed in my house. All time favorite characters, story line, twists and turns- you laugh and cry. Baltimore isn't the only city with corners.... I actually cried when Omar got shot- I was really upset- now...that's a solid show to bring me there. GET THIS series if you want to expand your mind out of bad TV and grasp the inner workings of most cities. Demographics may change, but everyone's got their hands in each others pockets- and in some way- we're all connected- amen. Glad to hear the creators are bringing a new show to the tube for us!"
