Transformers Complete Series DVD Boxset

Transformers are fictional alien robots of a popular Hasbro toy line and its spin-offs.

In its fictional backstory, the Transformers come from the planet Cybertron and are divided into two factions: the heroic Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, and the evil Decepticons, led by Megatron. They are able to "transform", rearranging their bodies into common or innocuous forms, including vehicles (the most common form), devices or animals. They can displace mass (i.e., shrink and expand), combine with one another, and apply synthetic flesh. This ability to transform is reflected in the accompanying television programs' taglines: "More Than Meets the Eye" and "Robots in Disguise". All Transformers stories and characters, in a range of media, have been based around this core concept since the toy line's debut in 1984.

The largest Transformer story-arc, retroactively known as Transformers: G1, includes both the animated television series The Transformers and the Marvel Comics comic-book series of the same name, which is further divided into Japanese and British spin-offs, respectively. Sequels followed, such as the Generation 2 comic book and Beast Wars TV series which became its own mini-universe. Generation 1 characters underwent two reboots with Dreamwave in 2002 and IDW Publishing in 2006. There have been other incarnations of the story based on different toy lines during the 2000s. The first was the Robots in Disguise series, followed by three shows that consist of the "Unicron Trilogy" (consisting of Armada, Energon, and Cybertron). A live-action film was also released in 2007, again distinct from previous incarnations, while the Transformers Animated series merged concepts from the G1 story-arc and the 2007 live-action film.

More than meets the eye! , August 31, 2010

"I have been waiting for this one since before the first live-action movie hit theaters! In this series, you see Optimus Prime, Megatron and the rest of the Transformers cast in thier original forms. And the focus on this series is more on the Transformers themselves than on the Human characters. Each episode moves at a fast and furious pace and features more than enough action and transformations to satisfy any Transformers fan. This series even features characters that have yet to appear in the live-action movies. Most notably the Dinobots, Autobots who transform into dinosaurs! This is a great, and essential, addition to any Transformers fan's video library. If you watched the original cartoon (like I did), you can relive all the excitment of the original series. Transformers has lots of action, but it is not a violent series, so if you're thinking this is a good gift for children, you're thinking right! There are a few issues with picture quality in a some scenes, owing to the age and quality of the source material. But overall the restoration staff did an exemplary job on bringing this back to original broadcast quality. This is probably the best quality we're ever going to see for this series. Highly recommended!"

"The thing that strikes you the most while watching the movie "Transformers" is not how spectacular its special effects are or how ferociously its action sequences come across on screen, but rather how very Funny so much of the movie manages to be. After having sat stone-faced through many of the alleged "comedies" foisted upon us in recent months - "Evan Almighty," "License to Wed," even "Shrek the Third," to name just a few - I'm pleased to announce that I laughed quite a bit throughout the course of "Transformers" - and I do mean good-sized belly-laughs, not mere titters or snickers. Prime credit for that obviously goes to screenwriters, Roberto Orci and Ales Kurtzman, but I would be remiss if I didn't also acknowledge Shia LaBeouf's contributions in this regard. In this his first certified blockbuster, LaBeouf finally achieves the superstardom he`s been steadily heading towards the past several years."

Maybe it's not the best movie as far as dialogue goes, but for being an action movie about robots from outer space, it's good. The transformations are good enough to not raise doubt about the mechanics of them (which is good for me as an aerospace engineer, because I tend to notice these things). This is the kind of movie that makes large HD televisions and high-quality sound systems worth having.

"Transformers is an amazing feat of special effects and cinematography. With amazing scenes, perfect sound effects, and an excellent soundtrack "by Steve Jablonsky", it is a wonder to behold. Unfortunately, its moral content is rather lacking. Disrespect for parents and authority is promoted throughout -- by the movies protagonists. I know this is common in movies today, but this one went a bit over the top. Also, whatever people want to say about Its a PG-13 movie. What did you expect?, everybody making this film knew that kids would be the main audience of Transformers, and there were several scenes in this movie that were too adult in nature, and that were not necessary. Also, there is a rather disconcerting underlying theme. What do the Autobots need to do? They need to destroy the Allspark, which is their creator. Now theres a message and a half! Destroy the creator, and the world will be saved! All of these elements cause me to give this movie the rating I have given it. There are probably many people reading this right now, who are thinking, All right. If you want morals, look someplace else! Its a film, not a sermon!. It is true that a movies mission is to entertain, and I must admit that Transformers did a very good job at that. But movies do have an effect on people. Thus, with so many other exciting movies that not only entertain, but also have admirable messages "The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, etc.", I give this movie three stars. ---Ryan Robledo, author of the Aelnathan"
